Just take a moment to think how lonely it must feel at mail call if your name is never called, especially if you have been incarcerated for several years and been forgotten by friends and family alike. All of these men and women are looking to communicate with someone in the outside world - someone who will be a friend to them, someone who is compassionate and understanding with a sense of humor and a strong shoulder to lean on when the going gets tough, a friend who will make them feel that they do matter.
Writing an inmate can be a lot of fun, and can also be very rewarding for both the inmate and the pen-pal. By sharing your thoughts and opinions with an inmate you will bring them more joy and happiness than you ever dreamed possible.
Life in prison can be a bleak and lonely existence with nothing to look forward to. You could change that though! Give an inmate something to look forward to by becoming their pen-pal.
